2021 SUMMER THEATRE CAMPS
ACTA will be holding two “Little Mermaid, Jr” theatre camps this summer. Each one week camp will be limited to 25 students to ensure social distancing.
Each camp will be for just one week with students entering grades 4th-12th attending Monday thru Friday from 8am-4pm and students entering grades 2nd and 3rd attending Monday-Friday from 8am-12noon.
Performances will take place on the Friday night and Saturday night of camp at 7pm. Parents will receive 2 comp tickets to each performance. As of this time, if social distancing continues, our audience will ONLY consist of the comp tickets that each camper receives. Thank you for your patience in this matter.
Mask requirement is subject to ACTA Theatre’s guidelines at the time of camp. More info is TBD.

AUDITIONS / REGISTRATION:
This year auditions will be held for both “Little Mermaid, Jr.” Theatre Camps the week of April 26 - 30. Please follow the steps below to sign-up for an audition. You must complete steps 1 and 2 to ensure your child's audition time slot is secured.
1. To allow for social distancing, please sign up for an audition time slot here.
2. Once you sign-up for a time slot, please follow this link to fill out a registration form.
On the form you will be asked to indicate which camp week your child would like to attend or if your child is available for either week.
3. Open this google drive folder to access pdf audition sides ("sides" are samples from a script) and a MP3 of 16-bars (about 30 sec) from "Under the Sea" for your child to rehearse in advance.
Every child will be asked to sing "Under the Sea" for the directors at the auditions.
Girls entering grades 6th-12th may prepare the 16-bar audition cut of "Part of Your World" in addition to "Under the Sea" and may sing it for the directors at the audition, if time permits.
4: Volume and enunciation matter! Please work with your child to speak/sing loud and clear at the auditions and any time when addressing an audience! We strongly encourage character voices & accents! The audition sides were chosen to highlight the many character accents needed in "The Little Mermaid". Read through the audition sides with your child and help them pick out 2 or 3 characters to work on in preparation for the auditions. On the night of the auditions, the directors will ask your child what roles they have prepared and students will be asked to read the sides aloud, with as much "character" as they can.
Ursula - think Cruella De Vil - daaaaarling!
Flotsam / Jetsam - creepy
Sebastian - Caribbean accent
Scuttle - Brooklyn accent
Grimsby - British accent
Chef Louis - French accent
Parents will be contacted the Monday following auditions (May 3rd) if their child has been selected to participate in camp and a link to submit tuition payment will be provided. Payment must be made in full no later than Friday, May 7 to ensure your student’s spot in camp.
Student camp materials (script, cd and character information) will be available for pick-up @ ACTA the week of May 10-14th. Students are strongly encouraged to memorize their lines and song lyrics before camp begins.
