NEW ACTING CLASS!
"DUNGEONS & DRAGONS"
IMPROV, ROLE PLAY & CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT

SUMMER POSTER NO ANIMATION.png

Dungeons and Dragons (D&D) is a collaborative role playing game that allows players to work together to create characters, tell a story, problem solve, practice improvisational skills, and even do math!

Each student will create a character complete with a backstory, motivations, strengths and weaknesses, etc that they will then take the role of. They will need to step into the shoes of that character in order to advance the plot of the story.

Alex, as the Game Master (GM), will lead the students through the story by painting the scene for them. She will give them scenarios, problems, and puzzles that they will need to work together to solve as their characters.

Although Alex will essentially act as the narrator of the story, the students will be playing the characters, thus their decisions will determine how the story will go. There is no script, only their character backgrounds and details, so it is all improv!

On the first day, we will go over the game: rules, expectations, and the options of character choices they can select from. We will then work on creating their characters. The following 3 seasons will be various encounters that their characters will face. They will come across puzzles, riddles, and various creatures/monsters/cryptids they will have to battle.

We know that the game Dungeons and Dragons often gets a reputation for mature themes like demons, but the game can be played in extremely different ways that are determined by the GM. This version will not include any themes involving demon imagery or anything in that kind of nature. They will face some classic monsters such as vampires, zombies, and the titular dragons, but nothing that may be deemed inappropriate for the age group.
